In the month of May, the inaugural season of Online Indian Super League or eISL launched by Football Sports Development (FSDL) and Nodwin Gaming came to a close with Chennaiyin FC as champions. While it was a treat for all millennial football enthusiasts, what we, as the residents of Dehradun, must feel more excited (and proud) about is the participation of a young and talented Doonite- Aman Warsi, who is currently pursuing BCA from Graphic Era deemed to be University.
In the league that had 11 top clubs from ISL competing against each other, Aman, represented Bengaluru Football Club, one of the finest clubs in the country that has two Federation Cup titles, two I-League titles, one Indian Super League title, and one Super Cup championship to its name. The cherry on the top was that the team was led by Sunil Chetri, the football sensation of India who has even been honored with the prestigious Padma Shri!
The 20-year old professional esports athlete delivered a praiseworthy performance and emerged as one the key players that swept the blues to near victory. In one of the matches, Warsi scored as high as six goals and gave a crushing defeat to the opponents! Even though Warsi’s team narrowly (mere 2 points) missed the chance of playing in the quarterfinals, he took it to the positive stride and commented “every loss is a lesson.” Warsi believes that he has grown as a player as he is now empowered with the “experience and knowledge of how the tournament and the league work.”
With his heart and eyes set upon the ESL Flash Cup and the 2022 Asian Games, we hope Aman will come back stronger & bring glory to India and Dehradun!
