Every year, Graphic Era pays tribute to its visionary leader, Hon’ble President, Prof. Kamal Ghanshala, by hosting Kavi Sammelan on his birth anniversary. The event is a decade-old tradition and is immensely popular amongst the students, staff and general public.
The Kavi Sammelan is a poetry recital event that brings together renowned poets across India to showcase their talent and artistry. It celebrates the power of language and literature and offers a platform to artists to express themselves. However, the event is not just a celebration of poetry, it is also a celebration of the diversity of Indian culture.
The Kavi Sammelan held on 15th April 2023 also marked the 20th anniversary of the event and brought together six poets of national repute to give a fine taste of Hindi and Urdu poetry to the literature enthusiasts of Dehradun. The renowned poets brought their unique style and perspective on various topics, including love, politics, and society and enthralled the audience with their fun-filled performances.
While Padma Shri Surendra Sharma, Shri Anil Agrawanshi and Kavi Praveen Shukla, the three maestros of Hasya Ras delighted the assemblage with their satirical, witty and humorous poetries, Kavi Ashish Anal Awasthi inspired patriotic feelings in the listeners by presenting the best of Veer Ras. The beautiful verses of poetry recited by Padma Shri Surendra Dubey and the bewitching ghazals of Professor Wasim Barelvi were also applauded and appreciated by all.
The event was a huge success and was a fitting tribute to the President of Graphic Era Group of Institutions who is a firm believer in the power of education & culture to transform society and change lives. In fact, it was his dream to establish a world-class university that would provide world-class education to the students of India. His vision came to fruition in form of Graphic Era University which is one of the top-ranked universities in the nation and takes great measures to promote the culture and literature through events like Kavi Sammelan.
